How to Create and Manage Coupon Codes on Payhip: Limits, Expiry and Bulk Codes

PLR ExpertMarketing & Traffic

A discount code is one of the simplest tools a digital product seller has. It can reward a new subscriber, thank a past buyer or give a holiday sale a little push. On Payhip, setting one up takes a few minutes, but a few details in the way coupons work are easy to miss. Here is a practical walkthrough based on Payhip’s own Help Center.

Create your first coupon

In your Payhip dashboard, open Marketing in the top menu. That takes you to the Coupons page. Click Add Coupon Code, fill in the form and click Create Coupon Now. The Coupons page then shows how many times each code has been used, and you can edit or delete a code at any time.

Choose where the discount applies

According to Payhip, a coupon can apply to the total order, to a specific product or to a specific collection. That gives you room to plan. A site-wide code suits a holiday sale. A product-specific code works well for a lead-magnet follow-up that points subscribers to one paid product. A collection code can support a themed promotion, such as a planner bundle.

Percentage or fixed amount

Payhip offers two discount types: a percentage off the original price, or a fixed amount deducted from it. Percentages are easy to explain in an email subject line. A fixed amount can feel more concrete on a lower-priced product. Either way, do the math first so you know what you keep after payment fees.

Set limits before you share the code

  • Usage limit: You can cap how many times a code is used. Payhip notes that the cap covers all customers combined, not each customer. For one use per person, Payhip suggests limiting the code to a specific product or creating separate single-use codes.
  • Expiry date: You can set an end date, but expiry uses UTC. A code ending January 1 expires at 00:00 UTC that day, which is evening of December 31 in the Eastern time zone. Set the date a day later than you think you need, or say the exact cutoff in your promotion.
  • Bulk codes: The advanced options let you create multiple unique codes at once, up to 50 per session. That is handy for giving each affiliate, partner or email segment its own trackable code.
  • Internal notes: You can add a private note to a coupon, which is a good place to record what the code was for.

Tips for PLR products

If you sell products made from PLR, a coupon changes your price, not your license. Check that your PLR license allows the sale price and the way you bundle or promote the product. Our guides on licensing and bundling cover those points.

It also helps to give each campaign its own code, such as one for your welcome email and another for a seasonal sale. Then the usage count on the Coupons page tells you which message worked. Keep the code easy to type, and share it in the same place buyers will use it, such as an announcement bar or an email.

What Payhip’s coupon page does not cover

Payhip’s coupon article does not mention auto-apply links, minimum purchase amounts or stacking codes. If your plan depends on any of those, check Payhip’s other help pages or ask support before you promote it.
