Thinkific for PLR Sellers: Plans, Fees and Download Features (October 2026)

PLR ExpertReviews

Thinkific is best known as a course platform, but it also lets you sell standalone digital downloads. If you sell PLR ebooks, templates or bundles, here’s what its official pricing page and help center say as of October 2026. We haven’t tested Thinkific ourselves. This overview is based only on Thinkific’s own documentation.

Plans and Prices (as of October 2026)

Thinkific’s pricing page lists four plans in US dollars:

  • Basic: $54/month, or $40/month billed annually
  • Start: $109/month, or $82/month billed annually
  • Grow: $219/month, or $164/month billed annually
  • Plus: custom pricing through sales

These prices reflect an increase of about 10% that Thinkific announced, effective August 13, 2026. Before that, Basic was $49 a month and Start was $99.

According to the pricing page and FAQ, Thinkific doesn’t offer a free plan. New accounts get a 30-day free trial instead. A few help articles still mention a “Free” plan, so check your own account if you’re on an older one.

Transaction and Payment Fees

Thinkific says it doesn’t take a commission on your sales. Payment processing still costs money, though. In the US, Thinkific Payments charges 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. International cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds another 1%.

If you use Stripe or PayPal instead, Thinkific adds a third-party gateway fee on top of that provider’s own fees. The fee is 5% on Basic, 2% on Start and 1% on Grow, and it applies to your first $1 million in sales each calendar year. Thinkific’s optional sales tax and VAT tool adds 0.5% on certain purchases. (This is general information, not tax advice.)

How Digital Downloads Work

  • Downloads are available on all plans, but Basic allows only 5 download products. Start and higher plans allow unlimited downloads.
  • Each file can be up to 2 GB. Supported types include PDF, DOCX, EPUB, spreadsheets, images, audio and video.
  • You can offer a download free in exchange for an email address (a lead magnet), sell it for a one-time price, or sell it on a monthly payment plan.
  • Buyers get the download link by email and on a post-checkout page. They must be logged in to download.
  • On paid downloads, you can set how long the link stays active.

There are some limits. The help center says download products can’t be permanently deleted, archived or made private. Their landing pages and thank-you emails can’t be customized much. Unpublishing a product also removes access for people who already bought it. The help article describes uploading a single file per product, so a multi-file PLR bundle would likely need to be zipped first.

Pros and Cons

  • Pros: no platform commission on Thinkific Payments, large file uploads, built-in lead-magnet downloads, and courses and downloads in one place
  • Cons: higher monthly prices than download-only tools, no free plan, only 5 downloads on Basic, gateway fees on Stripe or PayPal, and limited customization for download products

Who It Suits

Thinkific makes the most sense for PLR sellers who already sell, or plan to sell, courses and want to sell downloads alongside them. If you only sell files, a cheaper tool focused on downloads may fit better. Either way, make sure your PLR license allows the way you plan to resell or give away the content.
