Etsy Fees for Digital Downloads: What PLR Sellers Pay (October 2026)

PLR ExpertReviews

Etsy can put your printables and templates in front of buyers who are already searching, but its fees add up in several small layers. Here’s what U.S. sellers pay on a digital download, based on Etsy’s fee policy (last updated October 5, 2026) and its help center.

The main fees as of October 2026

  • Listing fee: $0.20 per listing. Listings last four months and auto-renew at $0.20 unless you switch renewal to manual.
  • Renewal after each sale. If a listing has more than one unit available, which is common for digital files, Etsy says it automatically renews at $0.20 after each item sells.
  • Transaction fee: 6.5% of the displayed price. For U.S. sellers, sales tax is excluded from this calculation.
  • Payment processing: 3% + $0.25 per order for sellers with a U.S. bank account. This applies to the total sale, including any sales tax.
  • Offsite Ads: 15% on orders Etsy attributes to its ads, or 12% once a shop has made $10,000 in sales over the past 365 days. The fee is capped at $100 per order.
  • Currency conversion: 2.5% if your listing currency differs from your payment account currency.
  • Set-up fee. Etsy says a one-time, non-refundable set-up fee may apply when you open a shop.

Worked example: a $10 printable

Assuming no sales tax, no Offsite Ads and matching currencies:

  • Transaction fee: $0.65
  • Processing fee: $0.55
  • Renewal after the sale: $0.20

That’s about $1.40, or 14% of the sale. If the order came through Offsite Ads, add another $1.50 at the 15% rate.

Pros and cons for PLR sellers

Pros: built-in search traffic, a familiar checkout for buyers and no monthly subscription required.

Cons: fees stack up on low-priced items, Offsite Ads can take a big bite of a single sale, and Etsy has its own creativity standards for what can be sold. PLR content usually needs real customization before it belongs on Etsy.

Who it suits

Etsy works best for sellers of printables and templates priced high enough that a $0.45 fixed cost per sale (processing plus renewal) doesn’t eat the margin. For very cheap items, a storefront on your own site may keep more of each sale.

Fees change, so check Etsy’s fee page before setting prices.
